About Narrowing the Gap Therapy
Welcome to Narrowing the Gap Therapy, a Portland, Oregon-based sanctuary where your deepest wounds find solace and your dreams and hopes are nurtured. We created this practice as a haven for those yearning to come home to themselves.
Narrowing the Gap Therapy began with a deep commitment to love and intention and was founded by an Arab immigrant and a multi-ethnic queer and transgender woman. As clinical social workers, we’ve dedicated our professional and personal lives to both individual and collective liberation. Our practice reflects our devotion to creating a space where everyone can feel seen, supported, and empowered. Narrowing the Gap Therapy is our love letter to those who feel let down by traditional mental health systems.
We strive to be anti-racist, queer- and trans-affirming, fat- and sex-positive, and we remain deeply committed to social justice. Our mission is to provide a welcoming environment where every client’s unique story is respected and honored.
Our guiding principles shape everything we do:
Healing is a collective journey, and community care is essential.
Every individual’s identity and experiences are valid and deserve respect.
Liberation is an ongoing process that involves dismantling systems of oppression.
We believe in the power of vulnerability and authenticity in healing.
Mental health care should be accessible, equitable, and culturally attuned.
Intersectionality is vital to understanding and supporting each person’s unique struggles and strengths.
Your worst mistakes do not define you; everyone deserves the opportunity to heal.
We are committed to continuous learning and unlearning to serve our clients better.
